Pleasure Magazine
From March 2011 to May 2012 I was working as freelancer for Pleasure Magazine, a multicultural info- and entertainment magazine in the Netherlands with a focus on the Antillean, Aruban and Surinamese community in the Netherlands. I was recruited to expand the African readership in the Netherlands. Thus, I created the "iAfrica" page, a page reporting about African news and facts in an entertaining and tongue-in-cheek way. Please click on one of the pictures below to get an impression of what "iAfrica" is all about.

Tijdschrift Lover
From February to September of 2007 I was an intern for Tijdschrift Lover, a magazine with a journalistic emphasis on feminism and gender in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. My task was to create a communication and PR-plan to get more readers and improve the visibilty of its platform. It also included writing 2 articles in Dutch for the magazinet. The first article I wrote was about my personal experience of embracing my natural afro-textured hair and what it means for a black woman to against western beauty ideals. The second article was about the systematic rape of women in DR Congo as a warfare weapon. I interviewed the women's rights activist Chantal Kakozi who featured in the documentary "Niets meer te verliezen" (Fighting the Silence) of Ilse and Femke Van Velzen in 2007.
